Foraging in the countryside
OUR 'bear grylls' moment !
Today we braved the chilly Autumn morning to collect some stinging nettles to make a warming and peppery soup for lunch.
This soup has been a favourite for work lunches too as it is thickened using potatoes so it really fills you up.
We found a great patch of nettles, far enough from the path to be away from any passing dogs and with really nice, dark-green leaves. The darker the leaf, the more peppery the flavour.
Well worth the odd looks you get from passing ramblers whilst rummaging around in the bushes, brandishing scissors while wearing a pair of bright yellow marigolds!
