Country of Origin
Before we start, let’s address the elephant in the room; how do you pronounce the name? Well according to the official web site, it is pronounced ‘O-peer‘. So now you know!
This gin takes its influence from the oriental spice route which stretched from Indonesia to the United Kingdom. Distilled with an undisclosed amount of Botanicals, but including; spicy Cubeb berries from Indonesia, Black Pepper, Cardamon and Ginger from India, bitter Oranges from Spain, Angelica from Germany, Coriander from Morocco as well as the obligatory Juniper which came from Italy.
This is a fine gin, distilled as a classic London dry, crisp with citrus freshness and with subtle undertones that pair well with the juniper.
Serve with a good Indian Tonic and a slice of grapefruit peel to reinforce its citrus notes and a pinch of cracked pepper corns or cardamon pods or a sprig of thyme to boost the subtle spices.
An excellent gin that refreshes and entertains. A single gin choice that you could enjoy all night without feeling you need to try others. When this bottle is gone, it will be replaced!
