Grease the pot of the slow cooker liberally with butter.
Pour the milk into the slow cooker and then add the rice, sugar and the nutmeg.
Mix thoroughly and cook on medium setting for 3-4 hours until the rice is tender.
(You might need to adjust timings for your particular slow cooker. If yours doesn’t have a medium setting, you can cook on low but you may need a little longer for the rice to cook.)
Serve with lashings of strawberry jam and a dash of cream.
